It was a blowout win for Maryland on Saturday evening as the Terps blew past Howard, 62-0.
Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa played into the third quarter after finishing 22-of-27 for 274 yards and three touchdowns, paving the way for backup Reece Udinski into the game.
As Maryland amassed over 550 yards of total offense, Udinski entered the game in the second half as several Terps scored their first career touchdowns. Heralded running back Roman Hemby tacked on the game’s final points after punching in a one-yard touchdown run, while former St. John’s running back Colby McDonald punched in an 11-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 28-0. Former Oregon kicker Harrison Beattie also punched in his first point as a Terp after knocking through a 34-yard field goal.
Veteran wide receiver Dontay Demus also amassed his second 100-yard receiving game of the season, becoming the first Terp to total over 100 receiving yards in back-to-back games since Stefon Diggs doned a Terps’ uniform.
With the game seemingly never in doubt, Maryland was able to put together a complete game in nearly all three phases of the game.
Maryland now moves to 2-0 on the season and will take in their first road game of the season next week. Maryland is set to face Illinois on Friday, September 17 at 9:00 PM EST.
