Maryland men's basketball included in Thanksgiving Week field in 2026 Players Era Tournament

The next domino in Maryland men's basketball 2026-27 schedule dropped after the Players Era Tournament unveiled its model for the upcoming season.

Maryland will once again play during Thanksgiving Week in a group that features the defending national champion, Michigan, alongside Alabama, Gonzaga, St. John's, Louisville, Tennessee, Iowa State, Miami, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Oregon, Creighton, San Diego State and Kansas State.

This marks the second consecutive year that the MTE has been held with Maryland joining the field after Buzz Williams was announced as the next head coach last summer.

Maryland will also host Virginia and travel to Georgetown as part of the 2026-27 non-conference slate along with likely seven additional games ahead of the conference slate.

Of course, Maryland will look to find more success in year two of the Buzz Williams era after sufffering a 12-win season in year one. While five-star Baba Oladotun headlines the current four-man high school class, Maryland turned to the transfer portal to restock its starpower in hopes of a bounceback season with former Arkansas point guard DJ Wagner, Tennessee guard Bishop Boswell and New Mexico forward Tomislav Buljan headlining the six portal additions.
