Maryland is back down to eleven commitments in the 2025 cycle after Bel Air (MD) three-star defensive back Julien Horton backed off his pledge. Horton is fresh off his official visit to North Carolina and is one week removed from his official visit to Maryland. "First off I want to thank all of the people who have supported me in the college recruiting process. After a very rewarding journey in what I have been privileged to meet many staff members and see many impressive programs, I have decided to decommit from the University of Maryland. This is not a reflection of the wonderful staff and recruiting program at the University of Maryland, it is a decision I have come to after balancing many considerations." Maryland worked to keep the fast-rising defensive back in the class as assistant Aazaar Abdul-Rahim led the way in the race. Michigan jumped into the mix with an offer following a visit earlier this month, while North Carolina jumped into the mix after Horton announced his commitment to Maryland. Horton fit in Maryland's plan as a safety and nickel, but now the three-star prospect will look to finalize his recruitment in the fall with his suitors expected to continue to grow. Julien Horton is rated a three-star prospect and an 87 overall by On3, checking in as the 31st-best prospect in Maryland. Related Links
