Maryland has suffered its first decommitment of the 2024 cycle as Florida three-star running back Terek McCant and the staff parted ways this weekend.
The decommitment was expected despite McCant kicking off the 2024 class as the first commitment. McCant has not visited Maryland since his freshman year and was expected to unofficially visit last month before opting to visit Ole Miss and UCF instead.
“I haven’t been up there in a while but the coaches make me feel welcome,” McCant told IBG after his decision. “I feel part of their program. I feel like I fit in their system well. I’m just ready to finish this high school season and get up there in College Park.”
Maryland will look to turn to their backyard to fill their running back room with Good Counsel (MD) four-star running back Dilin Jones tops the list of priority targets this cycle.
Maryland now moves to four commitments in the 2024 class in three-star linebacker Justin Okoronkwo, three-star edge rusher Anthony Reddick, three-star cornerback Lakhi Roland and three-star receiver Jahmari Powell-Wonson.Related Links
