The injury bug has hit Maryland football ahead of fall camp as Maryland offensive lineman Isaiah Wright is expected to miss the 2024 season. "Isaiah Wright has a lower leg injury and is likely out for the 2024 season," a team spokesperson confirmed to IBG. Sources told IBG that Wright, who arrived in the program in June, suffered the injury on one of his first days of summer workouts as the offensive line's depth takes a notable hit heading into the 2024 season. After two seasons at Buffalo with experience at both tackle and center, Wright arrived in College Park with a chance to become a starter this fall as head coach Mike Locksley and his staff scoured the transfer portal to finalize the starting unit in 2024. The New Jersey native started 18 consecutive games for Buffalo at left tackle before moving to center for the final six games of the 2023 season where he became part of an offensive line that tied for the third-fewest sacks allowed in the MAC. Wright transferred to Buffalo after spending two seasons at Rutgers, but after becoming a staple in the starting unit, he’ll head to College Park as the veteran lineman bounces back into the Big Ten. With Wright now sidelined, junior lineman Andre Roye has a chance to step up and become the fifth and final starter this season after flashing through the 2023 season. Veteran lineman Marcus Dumervil, who enters his second season with the program after transferring from LSU, is also in the mix as Maryland looks to finalize its line during fall camp with the first practice set for today. Wright was one of four transfer additions in the trenches this offseason, joining Aliou Bah (Georgia), Alan Herron (Shorter) and Josh Kaltenberger (Purdue). While Maryland was the only Power Four school in the country to not have any outgoing transfers prior to Fa'Najae Gotay's departure, Wright also became the third portal addition for Locksley and company this spring after the program announced the signing of former Notre Dame punter Bryce McFerson and Oklahoma kicker Gavin Marshall in the spring. Maryland will open the 2024 season on August 31 vs. UConn.
