Maryland men’s lacrosse saw their 2024 season end in the national title game against Notre Dame, falling 15-5 on Memorial Day, but they’ll get a chance to avenge the loss next season.
Maryland will face Notre Dame in the 2025 Atlanta Lacrosse Invitational at Bobby Dodd Stadium, the home stadium of Georgia Tech football. The game is set for noon on March 1, 2025 and will benefit Shootout for Soldiers. The announced matchup will also mark a homecoming for rising junior Braden Erksa, a Marietta, GA native, as he looks to build on his 24-goal season in 2024.
Notre Dame has won the last three matchups by a total score of 42-26. Excluding 2021 when the Terps had to play a conference-only regular season, this will be the eighth straight season the Terps and the Fighting Irish have met in the regular season. This will be the first neutral site game for the Terps during the regular season since 2022 when they demolished the Virginia Cavaliers in the Capitol Classic Lacrosse Tournament 23-12.
The last time the Terps played a rematch of the national championship from the year before was that 2022 game against Virginia, and hopefully the same results happen yet again this go around. While head coach John Tillman lost four, including a pair of starters, this offseason, the Terps have bolstered their roster through the transfer portal by adding seven players, tied for the most in all of Division One lacrosse. Maryland’s 2024 recruiting class also features three five-star signees in addition to a fourth pledge ranked inside the top-50 nationally, according to Inside Lacrosse.
This marks the first announced game on Maryland’s 2025 schedule.
