Maryland men's basketball announces 2026-27 Big Ten schedule

The Big Ten has officially unveiled the conference schedule for the 2026-27 season, all but finalizing Maryland's schedule for year two of the Buzz Williams era. Tip times, TV assignments, and game promotions will be announced at a later date.

Maryland will kick off conference play on the road with a trip to Columbus, Oh. to face Ohio State set for the Big Ten opener on Dec. 6 before returning to College Park to host Michigan State for the conference home opener, an enticing matchup with fans still on campus. Maryland will then face Morgan State, South Carolina in Baltimore then Radford before shifting back to conference play starting with consecutive home games against the two Big Ten teams from California, UCLA and USC. After hosting the Bruins on Jan. 2, Jan. 5 will mark the first game back for former Maryland guard Rodney Rice since hitting the transfer portal a second time and landing with the Trojans before injuries derailed his 2025-26 season.

Virginia Tech head coach Mike Young noted last month that his team will scrimmage Maryland ahead of the regular season, though per release, Maryland has a pair of exhibition games already announced. On Sunday, October 11, Maryland will face former ACC foe Georgia Tech (4:30 PM) at UMBC's Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena. The next Sunday, October 18, the Terps will host West Virginia at XFINITY Center.

All games will be broadcast on the Maryland Sports Radio Network with legendary Voice of the Terps Johnny Holliday, Chris Knoche, and Walt Williams calling the action. Throughout the 2026-27 season, Maryland will have a year-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of the program's 2002 NCAA National Championship, presented by Northrop Realty, per release. Home games throughout the 2026-27 season will feature special promotions, giveaways, player appearances and autograph sessions, and more that will celebrate this truly historic milestone in Maryland Athletics history.
