Maryland Makes Top Seven for Michigan Linebacker

Writer: Ahmed GhafirAhmed Ghafir

With the 2024 cycle now in full swing, Maryland made the cut for a longtime out-of-state target this morning. West Bloomfield (MI) three-star linebacker Kari Jackson released a top seven of Cincinnati, Maryland, Missouri, Penn State, Stanford, UCF and Wisconsin on Friday. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker picked up an offer from Maryland back in September as inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson and analyst Gary Wortham Jr. have led the way. Former assistant Dan Enos also chipped in on Jackson’s recruitment, but picking up the offer heading into the fall gave him a chance to familiarize himself with College Park. “I’ve watched a couple of their games. They’re just talking about their NIL and history, their turnaround to get back to bowls. They’ve made big changes. Maryland has had pretty good seasons and they’re trying to become more of a winning team consistently so I can see the different improvements from the talent and recruits they’re bringing in.” Jackson previously hinted that Maryland would make his top group of schools as he visited both Wisconsin and Penn State ahead of the dead period. Jackson added he’ll look to return to Maryland for a spring practice Jackson and look to commit prior to his senior year. Maryland was able to lean on Enos’ ties to Michigan in the 2023 cycle to land Brother Rice (MI) three-star running back Nolan Ray. In seven games as a junior, Jackson finished with 103 tackles including 26 for loss. Jackson is rated a three-star prospect and an 88 overall by On3. He’s rated the 12th-best prospect in Michigan and the 59th-best linebacker in the country.
