Maryland made the top group for another out-of-state receiver on Friday afternoon.
Dade Christian (FL) three-star William Fowles named a top six of Florida State, Georgia, Maryland, Miami, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. The top group of schools comes just weeks after naming Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USF.
Maryland was the last Power Five school to offer back on May 23 as defensive coordinator Brian Williams and outside linebackers coach James Thomas Jr. were at his school, the same day the staff offered Fowles teammates like 2026 defensive lineman Jordan Campbell and 2025 receiver and Williams’ younger brother Shamar Fowles. As for William, he’ll reportedly unofficially visit Miami this weekend while the Terps work to secure a summer visit from the Florida product.
The 6-foot-2, 189-pound receiver becomes the latest out-of-state prospect to put the Terps on his shortlist after wide receiver coach Gunter Brewer propelled Maryland into the top seven for Maiden (NC) four-star Chris Culliver alongside NC State, UNC, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Ohio State and Appalaichan State. With a veteran receiver room leading the Terps’ offense heading into the 2022 season and just one commitment at the position in Irvington (NJ) three-star Nasir Addison, the staff will work to replenish the room this cycle as Fowles gives them another viable target.
As a junior, Fowles post 1,100 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns on 47 catches.
He is rated a three-star prospect and an 86 overall by On3, sitting as the 124th-best wide receiver in the country.
