Maryland men’s basketball now has its third transfer portal commitment of the Buzz Williams era in the fold with Myles Rice announcing his transfer into the program.
After two seasons at Washington State, Rice transferred into Indiana ahead of the 2024-25 season where he averaged 10.1 points and 2.8 assists while shooting 41.2% from the field. Rice, also a team captain, started the first 24 games of the season before starting in just one of Indiana’s final eight games of the season.
Now, Rice heads to College Park filling a key role in the backcourt with Chance Stephens the lone player from last year’s Maryland roster to not either enter the transfer portal or NBA Draft this offseason.
While at Washington State, Rice was named to the All-Pac 12 Freshman Team where he broke the single-game scoring, single-season scoring, single-season steals, single-season assists, single-season field goals, and single-season free-throw percentage records. The Columbia, S.C. native averaged 14.8 points per game and led the Cougs to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 16 years. Rice added 3.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game.
Rice joins former Texas A&M forwards Pharrel Payne and Solomon Washington as new additions this offseason.
