Head coach Mike Locksley has his fourth commit in the 2026 cycle in the fold after Lamar County (GA) three-star linebacker Kaden Carter went public with his decision.
Carter, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound inside linebacker, committed to Maryland over Michigan, Penn State, NC State, Georgia Tech and Tennessee among others and comes off the heels of his first of two planned visits to Maryland.
Carter arrived in College Park for his first visit on April 23 to take in Thursday’s spring practice with defensive coordinator Ted Monachino leading recruiting efforts since offering in mid-February.
The Georgia product joins a St. Frances (Md.) trio already in the fold in five-star edge Zion Elee, three-star defensive back Khmari Bing and three-star tight end Damon Hall.
At Lamar County, Carter was a do-it-all athlete as a junior as he recorded 857 rushing yards, 143 passing yards and 15 total touchdown. But he'll head to college on the defensive side of the ball where he finished second on the team in tackles with 65 along with nine TFLs.
Kaden Carter is rated a three-star and 88 overall by On3, checking in as the 48th-best linebacker in the 2026 class.
