Maryland Football releases TV, kickoff details for 2026 non-conference schedule

Details for a handful of games on Maryland football’s 2026 schedule have officially been released on Wednesday.

Maryland will officially open the season vs. Hampton with kickoff set for 8 PM on Sept. 5 on the Big Ten Network. It marks not only the first-ever meeting between the two teams, but the first Power Four opponent in Hampton’s program history.

Maryland’s road opener will materialize on Sept. 12 against UConn for a 3:30 PM kickoff on CBS Sports Network. The two teams last met back in 2024 when Maryland opened the season with a 50-7 win in the Tai Felton breakout game.

The non-conference finale against Virginia Tech will be a primetime game, marking arguably the most important game of the Mike Locksley era with a chance to become the best gameday atmosphere during the same span. The two teams will kickoff at 7:30 PM on either FOX or FS1.

It marks the first meeting between the two teams since the Pinstripe Bowl win following the 2021 season, while it also marks the first meeting between James Franklin and Mike Locksley since Franklin was fired at Penn State and became the Hokies’ newest head coach. With a chance for Maryland to build early season momentum, all the talk about the importance of the week three matchup for local bragging rights will materialize under the bright lights of SECU Stadium.

Maryland enters the 2026 season owning the nation’s longest non-conference winning streak at 18 straight victories. The Terps also own the longest active winning streak in non-conference games vs. power conference teams with nine consecutive victories.
