Maryland football places 13 players on 2025 All-Big Ten teams

Despite a four-win season, Maryland football placed 13 players on the postseason all-conference teams after the Big Ten unveiled the 2025 teams on Wednesday and Thursday.

The 13 total players earning All-Big Ten recognition is tied for the second most by a Maryland team since joining the Big Ten in 2014, while the eight total defensive players and three total specialists garnering All-Big Ten recognition are each the most ever for those units since Maryland joined the league in 2014.

K Sean O’Haire: first team All-Big Ten (coaches); second team All-Big Ten (media)

The Richmond kicker added stability to the kicking game for the first time since Chad Ryland, now with the Arizona Cardinals, was with the program. O’Haire led the conference and ranked sixth nationally with 1.9 field goals while finishing 16-of-18 on field goal attempts within 40 yards. The Irish kicker ended 2025 converting on 50 of 53 total kicks (21–24 FGs, 29–29 PATs). O’Haire’s 21 made field goals tied the third-most in a single season in Maryland history, while his 87.5% conversion rate on field goals is the second best single-season performance in program history.

SAF Jalen Huskey: second team All-Big Ten (coaches & media)

After transitioning from cornerback to safety during 2024, Huskey proved himself as arguably the defense’s best player in 2025 and is now in line to extend Maryland’s streak of defensive backs selected in the NFL Draft. Huskey’s four interceptions led the team and ranked tied for fourth in the Big Ten, including interceptions in each October game, while his 72 tackles ranked second-most on the team.

P Bryce McFerson: second team All-Big Ten (coaches & media)

The Notre Dame transfer picked up exactly where he left off in his first season with the program.  McFerson finished second in the Big Ten with a 44.2-yard punting average. The Indian Trail, NC native averaged at least 45.0 yards per punt in six of his 12 games and recorded 14 punts of 50-plus yards, the second-most in the Big Ten, and placed 19 punts inside the 20-yard line, the fourth-most in the conference. His average yards per punt also ranks as the sixth-best single-season in program history.

TE Dorian Fleming: honorable mention (coaches & media)

The Georgia State transfer showed flashes of being the dominant receiving threat that was expected when he arrived last January. Fleming finished the season tied for second among Big Ten tight ends with 40 receptions for 351 yards, while his three receiving touchdowns ranked third on the team. Fleming recorded at least one catch in every conference games including a season-high nine vs. Washington.

OT Alan Herron: honorable mention (coaches & media)

The DII transfer stepped in as one of the most improved players from his first to final season at Maryland. Herron started all 24 games during his two seasons as a Terp and was part of a Maryland offensive line that allowed just nine sacks, tied for the fifth fewest in the nation and the second fewest in the Big Ten.

CB Jamare Glasker: honorable mention (coaches & media)

The Wake Forest transfer proved to elevate the top of the cornerback room in his first season back home, finishing tied with a team-high four interceptions. The Potomac product gave Maryland a big boost in the road game vs. UCLA with a pick-six giving Maryland an early fourth quarter lead, while his six tackles for loss ranked fourth on the team.

CB Dontay Joyner: honorable mention (coaches & media)

Like Glasker, the athletic cornerback led Maryland with eight pass breakups while notching a pair of interceptions, including a 67-yard touchdown against Nebraska. Joyner ended the year with 40 total tackles.

DL Cam Rice: honorable mention (coaches & media)

The Ohio transfer proved to be a big piece in the trenches as expected – and arguably the most impressive with Maryland tasked with replacing his role in the portal. Rice started in all 12 games in his lone season with the program, finishing ninth on the team with 33 tackles while adding 4.5 TFLs, and 1.5 sacks. The Morgantown, WV native’s season included a standout season best 19-yard sack at Wisconsin.

LB Daniel Wingate: honorable mention (coaches & media)

Wingate led the team and ranked sixth in the Big Ten with 106 total tackles, recording 10 or more in five of 12 games. Wingate also earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 4 and was named to the 2025 Bednarik Award Watch List. Wingate finished the season with 102 total tackles, becoming the first Terp since Tre Watson in 2018 to record 100+ tackles in one season.

CB La’Khi Roland: honorable mention (coaches)

Second-year cornerback La’Khi Roland became the first Terp since 1962 to return an interception 100 yards for a touchdown against Towson. Roland was also named to the PFF Team of the Week following Week 1, earning a PFF grade of 86.4, the third-highest in the country. The Georgia native also added three of Maryland’s 19 interceptions, which ranks second among Power Four teams.

Stewart, named an On3 True-Freshman Midseason All-American, finished his first collegiate season with a team-leading seven sacks, tying for fifth in the conference, and recorded at least a partial sack in eight of 12 games. He led the team in TFLs and ranked top ten in the conference.

DL Zahir Mathis: honorable mention (media)

The final piece in the foundation 2025 class, Mathis was named a Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award semifinalist midseason before finishing second on the team with six sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss.
