Maryland football has picked up its second 2027 commitment with Calvary Day (GA) cornerback Brexton Bell going public with his decision days after telling the staff.
Bell, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback, joins Episcopal (VA) athlete Levi Babin in Maryland’s early 2027 class.
“Out of all the schools I visited, they showed the most love,” Bell said about why Maryland won out. “Truthfully, when I went up there, my dad and I went up for the home opener and when I went up there, that was the start of it, they were showing crazy amount of love."
Assistant Corey Liuget served as the area recruiter while defensive backs analyst Will Likely stepped up to recruit the Georgia product.
“They both had a huge rule. [Liuget] played a huge part in recruiting me and staying in touch. Coach Likely when he first hit me up he told me we had a similar playing style. It’s a compliment. It’s a staff that really believes in me.”
Bell made his way to College Park for the home opener vs. FAU back on August 30 for his first visit to campus, but it didn’t disappoint after driving nine hours to College Park for an overnight visit with his dad.
“When you think of Maryland, of course you think of great academics but you don’t think of the nice campus and facilities they have. The coaches are very welcoming, it was great meeting them all. I’ve seen coach Corey Liuget before, he came to my school last spring and we’ve been talking a little bit. I’ve talked to coach Likely a little bit too. It’s great. They’re very welcoming and loved talking about the program,” Bell told IBG at the time. “I talked to all of them before the game and after. It was just nice talking with them, talking about where I’d fit in the defense and overall wanted me there.”
