Maryland football will look to get back on track this weekend at home, and they’ll do so once again as underdogs.
Maryland opened as a 5.5-point underdog vs. Nebraska on Saturday, Oct.11. FanDuel lists Maryland as a 6.5-point underdog with the over/under set at 50.5.
Saturday marks just the second time that Nebraska has traveled to College Park, a 54-7 win to close out Maryland’s home slate in 2019. But Maryland won the last matchup, a 13-10 win in Lincoln to secure bowl eligibility in 2023, as they now look to get back on track.
Nebraska is coming off a bounce back 38-27 win vs. Michigan State to move to 4-1 (1-1), two weeks after falling by three to 21st-ranked Michigan at home. Meanwhile, Maryland is coming off its first loss of the season after Washington scored 24 unanswered points in the final 18 minutes to secure a 24-20 comeback win, the Huskies’ first road win since joining the conference. For the first time this season, Maryland will look to overcome its first test dealing with adversity in the final home game of the month.
“We'll learn from this, and I expect this team will respond the way. I told them in the locker room, we’re going to learn a couple things about ourselves,” head coach Mike Locksley said after the bye. “One, how to manage success, which I didn't think we did a great job of it. In the bye week of managing the success without the distraction and the things that pop up. And now we want to see how we manage adversity. This is the first bit of adversity we'll face together as a team with dealing with a loss and I'm looking forward to seeing just how these guys respond.”
