Maryland football has pulled off the July 4 flip after Willis (TX) four-star interior offensive line Day’jon Moore flipped from Pittsburgh to Maryland, giving the Terps their first offensive line commit of the cycle.
“It was amazing. It was everything that I was hoping it was going to be,” Moore told IBG. “We did karaoke, a whole bunch, got on a boat, went into DC. I feel like I’d fit perfectly and they think that too.”
Moore, a 6-foot-4 offensive lineman, also becomes the first commitment out of Texas this cycle with assistant Zac Spavital spearheading efforts throughout his recruitment. Maryland set the bar for the center target during his first visit to College Park, an official visit beginning May 30, where the Terps cemented themselves as the leader.
“Just the family vibe. That’s what I was looking for. All the coaches love their job, just real culture. It’s a lot of culture in one place. Everybody is happy to be there. The coaches are happy about their players. A lot of the staff went to Maryland or [was] rehired. And there’s a lot of business opportunities in the area so you’ll definitely get a job if the football stuff doesn’t work out,” Moore told IBG at the time.
Moore now becomes the tenth commitment of the 2026 cycle for Maryland alongside eight commits from around the DMV, spearheaded by five-star pledge Zion Elee.
Day’jon Moore is rated a four-star and 90 overall by On3, checking in as the 204th-best prospect in the country. He was named First Team All-District after anchoring Willis to a 12-1 overall finish, including a perfect 8-0 record in district play, while Moore was recently named the fifth-best offensive lineman in Texas by a local outlet.
