Maryland football CB Dontay Joyner listed as questionable ahead of Ohio State
Maryland football is likely to have a notable piece back on defense this weekend.
For the first time this season, cornerback Dontay Joyner is not listed among the inactives as Maryland listed the senior among the questionable designations in the week's first injury report. Joyner was expected to return to game action once he was re-instated on the team prior to the regular season opener, though the program confirmed that he was eligible to practice but will not dress for gamedays. Still, Joyner traveled with the team for every road game with a source reiterating he's stayed out of trouble since his offseason arrest.
It marks a notable on-field development for Maryland, who enters the weekend with Jamare Glasker as doubtful and Amari Jackson among several players ruled questionable.
After serving roughly one month in Harford County Circuit Court, Joyner previously pled guilty to a telephone misuse charge and was sentenced to three years of supervised probation, a mental health evaluation, enrollment in the abuse intervention program and no contact with the victim, Joyner’s then-girlfriend. A hearing is set for next week.
After transferring into the program ahead of the 2025 season, Joyner appeared in all 12 games in his first season with the program and amassed 40 total tackles, one TFL, ten pass deflections and a pair of interceptions .
Maryland is set to face Ohio State on Saturday, Oct. 10 with kickoff set for 4 PM.
