Maryland football announces Black Script uniforms for Virginia game

Months after announcing the return to the traditional uniforms, Maryland football has announced the debut of its new black Script Terps uniforms for the fall. https://twitter.com/TerpsFootball/status/1694002912320745966 Maryland will wear the uniforms when they host border rival Virginia for the blackout game at 7 PM on Friday, Sept. 15. The uniforms feature a black helmet, which was teased by the program in recent days, along with black pants as Maryland closes its nonconference schedule. Maryland announced the full-time return of Script Terps uniforms back in April in a move that head coach Mike Locksley has not been shy about in years past. First used in 1982, Maryland has sported the iconic uniforms at least once in every season under Locksley as Maryland took another step toward maximizing fan engagement with growing expectations leading into the season opener. “I know our head coach Michael Locksley, someone who grew up in this area, in the DMV, worshiped the Terps in that uniform,” Evans continued. “Now it’s time for us to pay that homage and push forward, so I’m happy to bring back this iconic look. Terp Nation, here we come. Here it is.” Before Maryland debuts its all-black uniforms, Maryland will sport the iconic Script Terps when they open the 2023 season on Sept. 2 against Towson. Head coach Mike Locksley has watched his team take strides through the first three weeks and two scrimmages of camp with regular season rep around the corner. I thought a week ago, we weren’t very sharp with our special teams substitutions and our execution of the special teams fundamentals,” Locksley said following Maryland's second scrimmage. “This week I saw a major improvement, guys being into the scrimmage, understanding substitutions. When somebody’s down guys were ready to go. We were able to get most of the special teams work, all those special situations, tight punt, pooch punt. We were able to get a lot of good work on the special teams and I thought offensively this week, I saw them make a few more plays. I thought we moved the ball more efficiently on the offensive side than last week. And then defensively, I also saw our defense, they came away with some takeaways here today, which is something we’ve tried to emphasize from the last scrimmage to this one.” Related Links
