Flowers (MD) three-star cornerback Braydon Lee has flipped his pledge, signing with Maryland on the first morning of the early signing period as head coach Mike Locksley and the staff pull off the local flip. Lee, a 5-foot-11.5, 160-pound cornerback, verbally committed to the Gamecocks back in mid-April but Maryland never gave up as cornerback coach Henry Baker led the way while tight ends coach Kevin Sumlin and head coach Mike Locksley were active through the fall. The buzz that Lee would end up at South Carolina began well before his senior season as the SEC foe drew allure early in his recruitment, but Maryland was able to get the priority local target on campus as the two sides remained consistent heading into the season. Braydon Lee visited for four of Maryland’s home games in 2023 while high school teammate and Maryland signee Lloyd Irvin kept Lee a familiar face around College Park. The buzz that the Terps remained in the mix continued into December as the three-star made his way to Maryland for his official visit the weekend of December 8, where his mom was able to get an in-depth look at the program. “She definitely had a good time. She definitely learned some things, got better insight as well. Overall it was a really good visit,” Lee said following his official visit. “We had a lot of private talks with a lot of the different coaches. Like with coach Locks, my meeting with him got very in-depth in where he sees me with his program and some of the things he’ll do for me. My mom was very happy about that. She wants me to go to a program where she’s confident the head coach will take care of me. I feel like coach Locks, coach Baker, coach Zac all did a good job with assuring my mother that I’ll be taken care of and I’ll get the job done at Maryland like I can anywhere in the country.” Getting Lee comfortable with the players inside the program helped get Lee in the fold with Maryland before getting the rest of his camp on board. “I’ve been getting accustomed with the coaches and culture and the team for about a month and a half, two months now. I’ve met a lot of new players on the team, I’ve built really good bonds with multiple players. I’ve also known some players who’ve been on the team for three, four years now so if I ever had any questions, I went to them and they always kept it real with me. That’s something I really appreciate.” Lee and Irvin will now team up in College Park as Maryland made the position an early emphasis this cycle with a chance to lose multiple starters. Lee is expected to enroll in College Park in the spring. Braydon Lee ended his high school career named a first-team All-MET selection. He’s rated a three-star prospect and an 88 overall by On3, sitting as the 17th-best prospect in Maryland. Related Links
