2025 Good Counsel (MD) wide receiver Elijah Pedro established himself as one of the top underclassmen in the WCAC last fall as the 5-foot-11 athlete helped fuel the Falcons’ passing attack alongside 2024 receiver Elijah Moore.
Now at 175 pounds, Pedro has become a known commodity on the recruiting trail with Virginia Tech, Duke, Marshall and West Virginia all extending verbal offers heading into the summer ahead of his junior season. But following Good Counsel’s playoff appearance during Maryland’s 7-on-7 tournament during the first weekend of June, it was Maryland who became Pedro’s latest offer and the Terps are a program he’s plenty familiar with.
“I talked to coach Gunter , he showed me a lot love. I love him. I talked to coach James Thomas,” Pedro told IBG. “They said they like how I play, they’ve seen my film. This is the hometown so I definitely like it. The coaches, they support you and I like it up there.” Saturday was far from the first time Pedro has been in College Park.
“I came to the Ohio State game. Love their routine. I actually stole a couple of their drills,” Pedro joked. But the early connection between Pedro and the Terps’ staff is one he’s fond of.
With goals to reach 1,000 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns heading into his junior year, Pedro hopes his film to mirror a former Falcon star. “I want to be compared to Diggs. I want them to see my speed, route running.”
Pedro is among the long list of local receivers who works with Good Counsel wide receivers coach Miles Gray as the two are frequently on the field together. “I’m with coach Miles like every day. He puts on a lot of work on and off the field. Mentoring me, things like that. Focusing on the little things, helping me get better.”
