Maryland has a late addition to the class, and it’s from the local ranks as Good Counsel (MD) three-star cornerback Judah Jenkins has announced his commitment to Maryland. Jenkins, a 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back, backed off his verbal commitment to Indiana on December 3. Jenkins originally committed to Indiana over offers from Boston College, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and West Virginia among others. "It came about maybe two days ago. Maryland had reached out and said they might be offering me real soon and they just made it happen," Jenkins told IBG. Maryland made the move to add the local cornerback in the final hours prior to the early signing period where they were able to add the local prospect to a class that saw three-star Larry Tarver flip to Nebraska earlier that morning. Jenkins emerged as a potential late addition for Maryland, but he’s familiar with the program having visited in years past including for the Indiana win earlier in the season. Jenkins ended his high school career as a WCAC champion before being named a second-team All-MET selection. "Definitely the DB tradition. After having that many DBs come out of Maryland just gave me a push toward Maryland even more." Outside linebacker coach James Thomas served as the area recruiter, who primarily kept in touch with the local three-star signee. "I got to know coach Baker during our 7-on-7 at Maryland. Coach always kept in touch, no matter what time, day. He always just reached out and was always there for me." Judah Jenkins is rated a three-star prospect and an 86 overall by On3, sitting as the 34th-best prospect in Maryland. He’s expected to enroll in June.
