Maryland has landed its second quarterback in the 2025 cycle as Manvel (TX) quarterback Jackson Hamilton has gone public with his decision. Hamilton, a 6-foot quarterback and son of former NFL assistant Pep Hamilton, gave the staff his pledge during his official visit beginning June 13 after veteran quarterback Cam Edge filled in as his player host. UTSA and Charlotte both extended verbal offers while Texas A&M was among the schools monitoring the dual-threat quarterback. “I feel like it’s the best spot for me because of the development, football as a quarterback and ultimately what they have to offer off the field, the education, it’s great,” Hamilton told IBG about why the Terps won out. Hamilton, who will look to major in business in College Park, missed the bulk of his junior season due to a torn ACL as he inches closer to full strength ahead of his senior season. He enters his second season at Manvel (TX) after starting at Pearland (TX) as an underclassman. He’ll then join a quarterback room at Maryland that includes four-star quarterback Malik Washington, along with Billy Edwards Jr., MJ Morris and Cam Edge among others at Maryland as head coach Mike Locksley gets to work with the son of a close friend in the industry. Hamilton becomes the second pledge so far this cycle with similar ties to the staff after Calvert Hall TE JT Taggart, the son of Baltimore Ravens RB coach Willie Taggart, announced his commitment after his official visit earlier this month. Meanwhile, wide receiver Robert Smith, the son of former Houston Texans GM Rick Smith, steps into his fourth season with the program. Maryland now has 19 commitments in the 2025 class. Related Links
