St. Frances will kick off its 2023 season in less than two weeks when they head to Georgia to take on Buford (GA) where they’ll be tasked with slowing down five-star Georgia QB verbal Dylan Raiola. Five-star Florida State verbal KJ Bolden will also be a big test for the Panthers’ passing attack led by Mike Van Buren, but St. Francis will look to pull off the upset on the road with a bit of juice on the offensive staff after Miles Gray left Good Counsel to step into an assistant offensive coordinator and WR coach with the Panthers last month. 2025 wide receiver Jeremiah Koger, who transferred into the program this offseason from Archbishop Curley, has already noticed that from his new position coach. “I’ve just started to get to know him when he got to St. Frances but he’s a good coach,” Koger added. Maryland and Boston College are among the early offers for Koger, and the local receiver made the short trip to College Park last weekend where he was able to connect with a pair of assistants. “I took some pictures on the throne with the baseball jersey, I played a little bit in the Madden Tournament,” Koger said. “I was winning but we had to end early for something else.” Inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson is leading the charge at St. Francis while Koger was on campus in late June where he got a chance to work with Gunter Brewer. August 1 marked the first day that coaches could directly reach out to the 2025 prospects and it’s been Thompson who Koger is closest with, but he’s taken note of the staff’s approach. “I feel like I hear from coach Lance a little bit more. Coach Lance and coach Thomas, he hit me up the other day. I feel like coach Lance is the coach I’m closest with up there but everybody up there shows love. The coaches, the recruiting general manager, everyone. I came up earlier last season, I watched a little bit of the offense. I watched the freaks,” Koger added. What does Koger like most about Maryland? “It’s home.” With the intent to visit for “two or three games” in College Park this fall, Coastal Carolina, Virginia Tech, Temple and Duke are among the teams who have reached out to Koger since the beginning of the month. Koger is not yet rated by On3. Related Links VIP notes heading into the week (+)
