Local lineman sets two officials, talks Maryland pursuit

After lining up as a defensive end and tight end, DeMatha (MD) three-star Terez Davis is making the transition to the offensive line where he’s looking to become a starting tackle for a rebuilding Stags’ offense. Now at 292 pounds, the 6-foot-7 lineman has a pair of visits set for next month with three more still in play. “I’ve got an official to Georgia Tech the 9th to 11th, Virginia Tech on the 23rd and then I’ll probably go on an official to Syracuse, USF and also Maryland,” Davis told IBG. The Yellow Jackets may enter the summer as the favorite and making a return trip to Atlanta just weeks after visiting for their spring game is something that excites Davis. “They’ve done a great job of recruiting me,” Davis added. USF is another that’s intrigued Davis after unofficially visiting earlier this spring. “Seeing the new coaching staff, the academic parts, the facilities. It was really nice down there.” Maryland already stopped through DeMatha during the first week of May where offensive line coach Brian Braswell is picking up efforts once spearheaded by former assistant Elijah Brooks. “I’ve been keeping up with coach Braswell. He’s been talking to my mom. Everything has been going well with them. I feel like just recruiting wise, I used to talk to Brooks every day because he was the one recruiting me. It’s changed a little bit but they’re still on me heavy.” With Brooks now at Virginia Tech, the Hokies became a growing player as they look to hit the DMV hard this cycle. “I talked to JC Price before and he said he liked me so when Brooks went, things picked up.” Davis won’t look to remain available much longer after he wraps up his official visits next month with a strong chance that he heads to ACC country. “I’ll probably do it before the season so I don’t have to worry about proving or figuring anything out during the season. I don’t really care about big facilities, just relationships with the coaches. I want to go play for the coaches who really want me there.” Davis is not yet rated by On3.
