Gonzaga saw their season end in dominant fashion as Good Counsel ran away with a 20-2 win en route to a WCAC championship back in mid-November. Now, three-star cornerback Devenchi Arnold is shifting to offseason mode where he's already started weight training to build on his 6-foot-1 frame. "In terms of senior year, just end off and leave my mark. Just be happy with what I've accomplished during my time at Gonzaga," Arnold said about his offseason goals ahead of his senior year. The versatile defensive back made a name for himself alongside four-star Kainoa Winston as playmakers for a struggling Eagles squad, but Arnold's attention on the recruiting trail has remained steady ever since the start of the season. Already entering his time at Gonzaga as a potential D1 prospect, Boston College was the first school to pull the trigger on an offer in the spring following Arnold's freshman season. Defensive coordinator Brian Williams pulled the trigger on an offer right after Arnold's sophomore season, while Virginia Tech and Marshall have both jumped into the fold since. With Boston College being the first school to pull the trigger, that's given Arnold a chance to build depth to the relationship with position coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim. But with the Eagles' former coordinator now headed to Maryland to take over as co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach, that gives Arnold someone he's plenty familiar with as Abdul-Rahim soon shifts to bolstering Maryland's recruiting efforts. "I know when I got the offer from Boston College, he was the main one recruiting me. We've been keeping up through the fall, but I found out he was coming back and I know he's local," Arnold added. "I think it'd be good for me considering that he's been on me heavy. It'll be. an opportunity for me to see whether that's the school for me, what the defensive scheme is, how I fit in but that definitely interests me." While Abdul-Rahim and Arnold have a chance to build on their relationship, the connection between him and Brian Williams remains strong as well. "Coach Williams, he's been the main guy and the one I've been talking with the most. He does a good job checking up on me." Arnold made his way to College Park for the season-opening win vs. Towson before making his way to Blacksburg in mid-October to watch Virginia Tech take down Wake Forest. While he could add to his visit schedule, a return trip to Blacksburg could be in play later this month. "I know Virginia Tech, I know they have a junior day on the 28th so I got invited for that," Arnold told IBG. Devenchi Arnold is not yet rated by On3, but is rated a three-star prospect and an 86 overall by 247Sports. https://open.spotify.com/episode/0cWjJJ5H0hFJi1N2PoJFsk?si=YXnyku9vRZmPtZ8GKFoJjQ Related Links Maryland makes top ten for Freedom (VA) three-star RB Jeff OvertonMike Locksley one of ten named ‘Washingtonian of the Year’ for 2023Four-star running back Iverson Howard talks top ten, Maryland’s pursuit (+)
