Maryland has picked up its second commitment of the day after Clearwater Academy International (FL) linebacker Keyari James announced his commitment following his official visit. https://twitter.com/KeyariJames/status/1667956475975835649 “I’m a Terp,” James told IBG following his commitment. James becomes the second linebacker in Maryland’s 2024 class, joining German prospect Justin Okoronkwo. James, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound linebacker out of Canada, visited Maryland twice during the spring as his extended trip to College Park over the weekend gave him another perspective of the program. “We did some fun stuff of course. We went golfing, had nice food. I really liked the team chemistry and getting to know the coaches, the facilities, seeing how everything would be if I went there.” With offers from Arkansas State and Cal among others, Maryland inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson has led the way throughout and positioned the Terps as the clear team to beat heading into the weekend. “Coach Lance is my main guy for sure. Every question I had, I asked and it was answered. They did a good job wanting to do everything academically, culture-wise so I feel like I got a good grasp.” James joins the class as an inside linebacker and was able to sit down with Thompson to delve into his scheme fit during the visit. “I talk to him a lot because that’s who I’ll be playing under. We had a football meeting so I saw how they play and what their scheme looks like. I feel like what they’re going for is a lot of my strong suits. Those are my strengths, being physical, being instinctual, moving in the box. I think I’ll be a great fit.” Related Links OL Anthony Robsock announces commitment to Maryland
