Maryland took another hit on Sunday after star linebacker Jaishawn Barham has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. Barham, a second-year linebacker, was a star in Maryland’s defense after starting in all 12 games he was available as a freshman. Barham followed that up with another strong performance in the first half of the 2023 season before finishing with 37 total tackles, three tackles for loss and three sacks along with an interception. In two seasons with the program, Barham posted 95 total tackles and 9.5 tackles for loss as the former St. Frances and DeMatha four-star heads elsewhere. While the NIL era of college football continues to hit Maryland’s star players, Barham’s announcement comes one day after tight end Corey Dyches announced plans to enter the transfer portal. Maryland also saw tight end Rico Walker and cornerback Gavin Gibson among the departures in the first week of the season. Maryland returns Caleb Wheatland, Mike Harris and Daniel Wingate in the fold with Keyshawn Flowers and Keyari James set to enroll in the 2023 cycle.
