Jeshaun Jones Returning to Maryland Football for Sixth Season

In case there was still doubt halfway through spring practice, Maryland announced a key veteran is returning for 2023. Wide receiver Jeshaun Jones confirmed plans that he will return to Maryland for a sixth season in the latest episode of 'Terpsville' where Jones anchors a revamped room to lead the passing attack. Jones led Maryland in receptions (44), receiving yards (557) and receiving touchdowns (4) last season and exploded for 152 yards and a touchdown on nine catches in the regular season finale win over Rutgers. He has another COVID year. I know it’s something he’s entertaining. This guy shows the toughness that you want, the resiliency, all pillars of our program and he’s a guy that leaves it all on the field. I was really happy to see him be able to have the type of game today, coming off of two ACLs. The way he came and entered here with big game against Texas. It was great to see him play the way he played today and hopefully it’s a precursor for what things look like next year for him if he decides to come back.” Jones remained mum on his 2023 plans following the win over Rutgers with a key decision ahead. “I’ve enjoyed every moment of it, the good and the bad. There’s been a lot of ups and downs, but I stuck it out and I love my team. I love this organization, I love the people here and I appreciate everything that the University of Maryland has done for me.” After watching Rakim Jarrett, Jacob Copeland and Dontay Demus declare for the 2023 NFL Draft, Jones left all options on the table as he and head coach Mike Locksley evaluated his role for the 2023 season. Maryland returns DJ Glaze and added offensive linemen Gottlieb Ayedze and Corey Bullock this offseason, while all four running backs return in 2023 to anchor the rushing attack once again. As a former three-star prospect out of South Fort Myers, Jones signed with Maryland in the 2018 class as former assistant Chris Beatty led his recruitment. After appearing in all 12 games as a true freshman, Jones was sidelined for his sophomore year after tearing his ACL. Jones then appeared in four of five games in 2020 then appeared in the first six games of 2021 before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Related Links
