Jahmir Young set to suit up during G League All Star weekend

Former Maryland guard Jahmir Young is set to prove himself on the latest big stage in his early professional career as he takes part in NBA All-Star Weekend with the G-League.

After initially being announced as a participant in the Three Point contest, Young was announced as the latest participant in the 2026 Castrol NBA Rising Stars game, replacing Mac McClung on Team Red under head coach Paul Hewitt.

It marks the latest showcase for Young, who has picked up right where he left off in year two in the G League. Across 22 games with the Sioux Falls this season, Young sits third in the G-League in scoring (26.6) and assists (9.8), along with second in fantasy points per game behind RayJ Dennis.

The production is better from an already impressive first season in the G League where Young averaged 21.5 points on 45.7% shooting including 30.4% from three, but he's been able to improve his efficiency as he enters the mid-season break shooting 46.2% from the field and 36% from three. Young also has already nine double-doubles this season, while he becomes the second-ever player out of Sioux Falls to suit up in the event.

Young was named NBA G League Player of the Month for January after averaging 29.5 points, 9.7 assists and 4.9 rebounds in nearly 40 minutes through the month, shooting over 50% from the field and 50% from deep.

Young has also been able to get a little bit more playing time in year two on a two-way contract, playing in eight games with the Miami Heat this season including a layup in his return to DC last Sunday. Young's biggest opportunity came back on Feb. 1 when Miami hosted Chicago, finishing with two points, two assists and a rebound in ten minutes of action. But with a chance to embrace the moment, Young will look to shine during All-Star weekend.

"Probably last year in training camp, the sized up with Russell Westbrook in Denver. I got caught in the post, they had to send a double," Young said of his 'welcome to the NBA moment.'

Young was previously announced as a participant in Friday night's Rising Stars game where he'll team up with Tristen Newton and Yang Hansen with Austin Rivers serving as honorary head coach.

The 2026 NBA G League State Farm Three-Point Contest will take place before the 2026 NBA G League AT&T Slam Dunk on tomorrow, Feb. 14 at NBA Crossover at 2:30 PM. The NBA G League Next Up Game will take place on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 2:30 PM on the NBA Channel.
