In-state lineman has two visits, including official, set to Maryland

One cycle after loading up along the offensive line, Maryland already has one commitment on the offensive side of the trenches in the 2025 cycle after Pennsylvania St. Joseph's Prep (PA) IOL Kahlil Stewart committed just over one month ago. As more targets finalize visit dates to make their way back to College Park, one in-state lineman has two visits to Maryland set with the staff in hot pursuit of Dunbar (MD) offensive lineman Josh Blackston. Maryland is expected to host multiple top targets for its March 30 practice with Virginia natives Messiah Delhomme and Jaylen Gilchrist making their way to campus, also marking their first of two visits to College Park in the coming months. Blackston, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman tells IBG that he'll be on campus that day as he gets a different perspective on a program he's seen plenty of in the past. That won't be the only visit with Blackston also set to officially visit Maryland the third weekend of June in what's shaping up to be the big recruiting weekend of the month. Along with Delhomme and Gilchrist, four-star cornerback and three-star cornerback Jayden Shipps are expected to officially visit then as Blackston gives Maryland another in-state target they've been in the top group with. Blackston's stock rose through his junior season after shining at both left and right tackle, leading Maryland to become his first Power Five offer back in the closing weeks of his junior season with inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson leading the charge since. Rutgers, Boston College and Virginia Tech were among the schools to offer in the weeks since, but consecutive offers from Ohio State and Tennessee in early March elevated Blackston's recruitment. Blackston was an MPSAA all-state selection on a Dunbar team that finished undefeated en route to a 2A/1A state championship after defeating Calvert, 8-0. Josh Blackston is not yet rated by On3.
