How the former Terps fared during the 2023 season

Maryland saw double-digit players depart from the program following the 2022 season, but how did they fare? We take a look at where the former Terps landed and how their 2023 seasons went. FB Joe Bearns: Charlotte Bearns posted nine rushing yards on three carries, along with eight rushing yards on three catches in 12 games played. SAF Isaiah Hazel: Charlotte Hazel posted 45 total tackles in his final season of eligibility and has since declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. LB TJ Butler: Charlotte Did not record a stat in 2023. DL Zion Shockley: Charlotte Five tackles and one sack in two games played OL Ja’Khi Green: Charlotte Green appeared in ten games in 2023 with seven starts at right guard. DL Austine Fontaine: Charlotte Fontaine started in five games and appeared in eleven, finishing with 30 total tackles, 0.5 TFLs and three QB hurries. OL Coltin Deery: TCU Deery appeared in every game for the Horned Frogs in 2023 and started the final seven games at left guard. OL Keon Kindred: Akron Appeared in four games in 2023. TE CJ Dippre: Alabama Dippre posted 172 yards and nine catches after appearing in all but one of Alabama’s games this season. DL Anthony Booker: Arkansas Booker posted 19 tackles, two TFLs and 0.5 sacks in 11 appearances. Booker has since announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. OL Tommy Varhall: Arkansas Did not appear in game action. DL Mosiah Nasili-Kite: Auburn The former Terp won’t suit up against Maryland in the Music City Bowl after suffering a bicep injury against Georgia. In five games played, Nasili-Kite posted ten tackles and 0.5 TFLs for the Tigers. OL Mason Lunsford: LSU Lunsford played sparingly in his lone season with the Tigers, appearing in five games at guard in 2023. QB John Griffith: Merrimack Did not record any statistics. TE Weston Wolff: USF Started nine games and appeared in all 12, finishing with 143 yards on 14 catches. Wolff recorded five multi-catch games in 2023. LB Ahmad McCullough: Washington State After posting three total tackles in his lone season with Washington State, McCullough announced his entry into the transfer portal following the 2023 season. RB Challen Faamatau: N/A LB Kam Blount: Bowie State Posted 26 total tackles, including 1.5 TFLs, along with one pass deflections in nine games played. SAF Jayon Venerable: Monroe College In six games played, Venerable posted eight tackles and three pass deflections, along with 21 yards on a pair of kick returns. DL Tyler Baylor: Kent State Baylor started in eight games and played in all 12 after posting 26 tackles, including a pair of TFLs and one pass deflection. WR Marcus Fleming: N/A Related Links
