Maryland football kicked off fall camp with DMV native and rapper Wale along the sidelines, while several of the 2025 pledges like Sidney Stewart, Jayden Shipps, JT Taggart and Delmar Glaze were in attendance ahead of the dead period. Maryland also saw another visitor inside Jones-Hill House as Governor Wes Moore made his way to College Park, taking part in drills before addressing the team and the media.

“This is the first time I think in like 25 years, I threw a helmet on, I threw the jersey on so I’m feeling very inspired right now,” Moore said, who played football at Johns Hopkins in the late 1990s.

The visit to College Park came days after Moore made stops at both the Commanders and Ravens’ practice facilities as he wraps up the local rounds. After sporting a uniform, Moore took part in the opening portion of practice where he led Terp Jacks before catching a pass from QB MJ Morris. Head coach Mike Locksley also presented the governor with a framed ‘Moore’ uniform after addressing the team in front of the media.

“The thing I love about coach Locks is not just that he’s a winner, he’s got a winning mentality. And you see the way these boys are out here working. They’re working like they want it. And I’m just a big believer in the people who are willing to put in the work are the people who are willing to win,” Moore told the media.

“And the DMV takes pride in coach Locks.”

Maryland will open the season on August 31 vs. UConn.
