Fresh off his fourth official visit and third this month, Archbishop Spalding (MD) fringe four-star quarterback Malik Washington is set to make his commitment this upcoming Friday, June 28 at 1 PM. Washington, a 6-foot-4 quarterback, is down to Maryland, UCF, Virginia Tech and Syracuse after taking officials to each finalist. The Hokies were the first school to host him in mid-April before venturing out to UCF, Syracuse then Maryland as the in-state priority enjoyed the weekend with a pair of teammates – Delmar White and Jayden Shipps – also on campus. “I just got to spend some good time with the coaches even when it wasn’t just about football, kicking it at coach Locksley’s house,” Washington told IBG. “It was more about having fun.” The highlight for Washington came during Saturday night’s dinner boat in DC. “The boat dinner, the karaoke on the boat. That was fun.” With current Maryland safety and former high school teammate Lavain Scruggs filling in as his host while several players spent the weekend with the blue-chip talent, Washington’s time spent with the coaching staff solidified a pitch that’s been cemented since the start of his junior season. “Definitely good one-on-one time with all of them, talk about the process in general and where they see me fitting and where the program is going.” After spending the week in Los Angeles for the Elite 11 Finals before heading to College Park for his official visit, Washington will spend the rest of the week relaxing before finalizing his decision on Friday. If Maryland is the pick, Washington knows why. “Comfortability. It’s 40 minutes down the road so I’ll be able to be home whenever I need to be.” Malik Washington is rated a composite four-star prospect, but a three-star and 88 overall by On3. Washington is also ranked the 32nd-best quarterback in the country.
