Four-Star Safety Eyeing Spring Visit and Official to Maryland

Maryland has been a player in Orlando over the last year with assistant James Thomas leading the charge for the program. After inking athlete Dylan Wade in 2023, Maryland is after another in the region.

Evans (FL) four-star safety Brandon Jacob visited campus for the Rutgers game last fall and has been steadily hearing from Thomas over the last few months. “That’s one school who’s been on me heavy,” Evans told IBG. “They’re telling me they love my game, the whole coaching staff. I feel like that’s perfect because Maryland is a high choice for me because of the time I been there.” Maryland was the first school to offer the 6-foot-2, 170-pound defensive back and he returned the favor last fall after visiting College Park for the regular season finale win over Rutgers. Evans and his family got a chance to soak in College Park before watching the game in November, but he’s looking at a possible return visit next month. https://twitter.com/thereallkingbj_/status/1596643269416521730?s=46&t=ktZ6XXgt1tAGR27JpyY_hQ

“I want to go back, probably during spring break but an official visit is likely.” Texas A&M became the latest school to offer over the weekend, while Alabama, Purdue, Florida, Missouri, Ole Miss and Miami are among the Power Five schools who have jumped in the mix. What helps Maryland’s chances early is not only the relationships around Evans, but the length they’ve been recruiting him. “ actually went to the high school I came to now,” Evans added. That’s why Maryland is among the schools Evans is looking to get to before he considers trimming his list.

“I’m actually trying to visit a lot of places in March. The only visit I have setup is Miami on March 4 but I’m trying to go to Alabama, Maryland, Vanderbilt, Tennessee.”

For now, Evans is backing away from a top list with the spring eval period around the corner and the potential for new suitors to jump into the mix. In the meantime, he’s working to juggle his current suitors. “It’s been very busy lately. Every school that’s offered has been hitting me up, it’s a lot. But it’s what I’ve wanted and what I asked for, so it’s all a blessing.”

As he stays patient with the process, Evans added that his early plan is to set up three official visits in June and preserve two for the fall

Jacob is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3. He’s rated the 20th-best safety in the country and 224th-best prospect in the country.Related Links Buzz continues on defensive side of the ball (+) Note on pair of underclassmen (+) Maryland basketball receives votes in AP poll Local lineman set to visit pair of Big Ten schools, talks spring timeline (+)
