Four-Star Linebacker Mapping Out Offseason Visit Schedule

After transferring from Pallotti to St. Frances in the spring then back to Pallotti in the fall, 2024 four-star linebacker Gabe Williams was the primary playmaker on the defensive side of the ball after routinely finding himself around the ball at the end of each play. Standing at 6-foot-3 and 185, Williams is looking to add another 15 pounds before his senior season and develop as an edge rusher. "I want to get better with my pass rush," he told IBG. Off the field, Williams has hinted that he's inching closer to taking the next step in his recruitment with a top eight or ten around the corner. Maryland will be among the finalists for the local four-star prospect and after becoming a frequent visitor through the fall, Williams took note of the Terps' recruiting close last month. "I have a great relationship with everyone up at Maryland , coaches and even the recruiting analysts. Seeing Locks flip Neeo was pretty cool. I knew coach Locks can do it because he flipped Jaishawn , but I love coach Locks bringing in the best recruits in Maryland." Once the dead period is over, Williams will look to visit a handful of schools with two of them drawing return visits. "I'm visiting Virginia Tech, Maryland , USC , Wake Forest when the dead period is over." Williams shares what sticks out about each school. "Maryland I would love to play at home and play against the hardest competition in college football and I like what they are building. Penn State because it is LBU. USC because I love what coach Odom is doing with the tall linebackers and I like their defense. Wisconsin because I like coach Fickell and coach Nick Tress, they're defensive coaches. Notre Dame because of the history and coach Freeman, I like what he is building. VT I like what coach Pry is building and getting a lot of the DMV guys. Pitt because I love the head coach and there defense and they're showing a lot of love." While contemplating a potential spring or summer decision, Williams admits he isn't any closer to nailing down a more exact timeframe for a commitment. "I have no idea when I'm going to commit but definitely before the season so July latest." What's most important to him? "I'm looking for a place with great education and a place that can develop me and get me to the next level." Williams is rated a four-star prospect and a 92 overall by On3. He's also rated the top prospect in Maryland and the 81st-best prospect in the country.
