Riverdale Baptist (MD) four-star edge Cortez Harris took the next step in his recruitment on Wednesday after releasing his final ten schools with Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech still in the mix. Harris, a 6-foot-2 edge, has long had a pair of official visits set with Maryland up first on June 14 followed by Penn State on June 21, but he’s added a third to his June schedule. https://twitter.com/34HARRIS_CORTEZ/status/1785690120810541164 “I’m going to Tennessee June 1-3,” he told IBG, marking a return trip to Knoxville. “I want to see more and get a feel of the coaches and the area better.” Penn State hosted Harris and four-star teammate, Jayvon McFadden, earlier in the offseason as the Nittany Lions have remained in the picture since Harris’ recruitment first took shape. Meanwhile, assistants James Thomas and Aazaar Abdul-Rahim have led the way for Maryland, while assistant Kevin Sumlin has stayed involved with his former area target. “Matter of fact, I actually just talked to coach Sumlin and told me coach Aazaar was going to come out to see me.” Maryland was the last school to host Harris for a visit after the in-state target visited in mid-April for a spring practice. “I talked to coach , coach Aazaar , seeing some of my old teammates up there,” Harris told IBG. “Coach JT is always good people. He’s very knowledgeable and relatable. I got to talk with coach Sumlin too. It’s a good fit up there, just family vibes,” Harris said afterward. With his final ten suitors set and his official visit schedule nearly complete, the four-star plans to make his commitment on July 1. Cortez Harris is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3, sitting as the fourth-best player in Maryland and the nation’s 24th-best edge prospect.
