St. Frances (MD) four-star cornerback Blake Woodby is plenty familiar with Maryland, both the facilities and coaching staff, as the local blue-chip cornerback got a chance to soak in the comfort throughout his official visit with former teammate and freshman cornerback "Kerm" Humes filling in as his host. "It was definitely different just in terms of the gestures and make me feel more comfortable and get me to become a Terp. It was like the dinners, just the usual stuff you don't get on an unofficial," Woodby told IBG. Assistant Aazaar Abdul-Rahim has led the way throughout Woodby's recruitment, a pursuit and relationship that extends past high school, where the on and off-the-field familiarity hit home throughout the weekend "We spend one-on-one time all the time. I've known him since like fifth grade so he's like family, for real," he added. "It definitely helps because coach Justin , he was under coach Aazaar at the University of Maryland a few years back. So a lot of the stuff coach Aazaar teaches, coach Justin teaches the same thing. It's definitely easier, everything is pretty much the same but coaches use different terminology and coach Justin, coach Aazaar use the same. Everything I heard, I've been hearing for years now." "We went over my tape, went over things I can work on. How he took my favorite players in the league and translated it to the plays I made to the same plays they made and showed me how to be a pro in terms of watching film, taking care of your body, things like that." Head coach Mike Locksley also hit home with a clear message with several top local targets on campus with Woodby. "Just try to understand the possibility of keeping everybody home and if we do that, we'll be one of the top teams in the country." After parting ways with Ohio State, Woodby wrapped up an official visit to Auburn before returning the following week for a camp/unofficial visit alongside teammate Bryce Deas, who has since committed to the Tigers. Woodby initially planned on taking his recruitment into the fall with an official visit to Oregon on the table, but while there's no set timeframe, Woodby will look to make his commitment in the coming weeks. "Not really pressing when it happens though, just taking it all day by day." Blake Woodby is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3, checking in as the seventh-best prospect in Maryland.
