Maryland football has its second pledge along the defensive line this offseason after former Western Carolina defensive tackle Edwin Moore Jr went public with his decision days removed from his visit to campus.
Moore, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound lineman originally from Decatur, Ga., joins the program with three years of eligibility remaining. He also joins former Ohio DT Cam Rice as portal commits this spring window and joins former Saint Francis DT Eyan Thomas as the third commit along the defensive line this offseason.
Moore played in all 12 games in 2024 and started the first two as the Catamounts battled injuries to open the season. His 18 total tackles, three TFLs and four QB hurries were enough to be named a fourth team selection on Phil Steele’s All-Conference teams, while the highlight of the season came after recording a touchdown off a blocked field goal vs. Campbell. Moore also posted a pair of tackles and assisted on a TFL vs. NC State in his first college game, while he recorded a sack in Western Carolina’s spring game earlier this month.
Moore, a former three-star out of Columbia (GA) in the 2024 class, committed to Western Carolina over offers from App State, Miami (OH), Navy, Toledo, Tulane and UConn among others.
The new portal addition now joins Thomas as new additions who now factor into big pieces for the future of the defensive line under defensive line coach Corey Liuget as new defensive coordinator Ted Monachino works to restock the unit heading into 2025.
