Former Purdue OL Josh Kaltenberger transferring to Maryland

Maryland has landed its second portal commitment of the night as former Purdue center Josh Kaltenberger has announced his commitment. Kaltenberger, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound redshirt junior, officially visited Maryland for a one-day official visit last week as the Terps were among his five official visits. Kaltenberger announced his transfer from Purdue back in late November and fills a big hole at center with Aric Harris and Mike Purcell exhausting their eligibility. "Pheonemal coaching staff! Incredible facilities! Amazing program!," Josh's father, Matt, told IBG as to why Maryland won out. After redshirting during the 2020 season, Kaltenbeger appeared in 36 games over the last three seasons and has made seven starts with five of those starts at center. The Cranberry Township native had developed into a dependable rotational piece for the Boilermakers as Kaltenberger now steps into a feature role in the trenches for the Terps. Kaltenberger played high school football at Harmony Seneca Valley (PA), where he was a three-star recruit and an 83.17 overall in the 2020 class, according to the On3 composite rankings. Josh Kaltenberger becomes the third transfer portal commitment for Maryland this offseason and second of the night, announcing hours after former NC State quarterback MJ Morris went public with his decision to transfer into the program. Maryland also landed former Bowling Green cornerback Jalen Huskey following his official visit last weekend. Maryland is still awaiting official word on whether star lineman DJ Glaze will return for the 2024 season as assistant Brian Braswell gears up to replace multiple departing starters, but Josh Kaltenberger addresses a key need.
