Former Kansas guard David Coit announces transfer to Maryland men's basketball

Buzz Williams now has his second guard and fourth transfer portal commit of the offseason after former Kansas guard David Coit has gone public with his decision.

Coit, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound point guard, joins the program with one year of eligibility. Coit joins former Indiana guard Myles Rice as the second commit in the backcourt, while former Aggies Pharrel Payne and Solomon Washington became the first two to head to College Park.

After transferring into Kansas from Northern Illinois, Coit started in three games and played in 32 for the Jayhawks where he averaged 5.1 points and 1.5 assists per game. Over the last three seasons, Coit has averaged 13.3 points on 41% shooting, along with 2.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 0.9 steals. At Northern Illinois, he posted 18.1 points (41.6% FG, 35.4% 3PT), 3.1 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.1 steals as a two-time selection as All-MAC Third Team in his pair of seasons at NIU. Shifting into a rotational role for the Jayhawks, Coit averaged 5.1 points (37.8% FG, 38.7% 3PT), 1.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in his lone season in Lawrence.

Coit will now give the Terps at least a veteran presence in a revamped backcourt under Buzz Williams following the complete roster overhaul, though Chance Stephens remains the only player still on the team from last season's roster.
