Maryland has picked up its first commitment on a big Friday as St. Thomas Aquinas (FL) three-star Travares Daniels has gone public with his decision. Daniels, a 6-foot-1,183-pound safety, committed to Maryland over Georgia Tech and Ole Miss among others as assistants Brian Williams and Lance Thompson led the way. “Coach , he really recruited me and coach LT, heput the stamp on it. Everyone there is great people from coach Locks all the way down to the recruiting people.” Daniels, who previously committed to Indiana before reopening his recruitment, gave his pledge to the staff following his official visit beginning June 21. “I had an amazing visit. I just didn’t get the linebacker part as full as I did when I went on my . Coach LT, he’s an amazing coach. I feel like I can get developed the best there and he has so much knowledge, so much tools in his bag that I can gain and get ready for the next level and be ready playing in the Big Ten.” Veteran linebacker Ruben Hyppolite hosted the inside linebacker target, who projects at the WILL, as the Florida natives got a chance to strengthen their connection during this past weekend’s official visit. “He actually went to the school I went to, McArthur. He played a big part in my commitment.” Travares Daniels is rated a three-star prospect and an 87 overall by On3, checking in as the 117th-best prospect in Florida.
