While the season is officially over for Maryland baseball, four stars were honored on Tuesday night after being named to the 2024 All-Big Ten teams with the Hacopian brothers leading the way. First baseman Eddie Hacopian was one of two first-team selections after finishing with a team-leading .377 batting average, the third-highest batting average in the Big Ten through the regular season. Hacopian also led the team with 83 hits while also adding 16 doubles, nine home runs and 51 RBs after shining for the Terps through the season. Sam Hojnar was the second first-team selection after leading the team with 16 home runs and 57 RBIs, finishing tied for the third-most home runs and fifth-most RBIs in the Big Ten. Both Hacopian and Hojnar started all 56 games for Maryland this season with Hojnar primarily filling in at second base. After transferring into Maryland from Longwood this season, relief pitcher Logan Berrier was named a second-team selection after proving to be a crucial piece out of the bullpen for Matt Swope. Berrier posted at least three strikeouts in eight games while finishing with a 7-1 record, seven saves, 38 strikeouts and a 2.81 ERA in 2024. Berrier also posted the 17th-most wins in a single season in program history, while his seven saves are tied for the ninth-most. Chris Hacopian, meanwhile, was named to the All-Freshman team after a breakout year one. Hacopian posted a .325 batting average, 72 hits, ten doubles and 42 RBIs while his 15 home runs are tied for the second-most for a Maryland freshman and fifth-most in the Big Ten. Hacopian's 42 RBIs were tied for the fourth-most for a freshman in program history. Jacob Orr closed out the honors for Maryland after he earned the sportsmanship award, given to the player who has distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Orr set career highs in games played (56) and games started (48) in the regular season. The junior outfielder also had a career-high 46 hits on the season and tied his career-high with three home runs. Maryland finished 34-22 in the first season under Matt Swope, posting the sixth most wins in program history despite missing the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since 2018. Related Links
