McDonogh (MD) four-star athlete Jeff Exinor was planning to attend a pair of games in College Park this season and will hope to make it back onto campus for at least a portion of the Terps’ next home game against Penn State.
Exinor was eyeing the Penn State game for his eventual visit to Maryland, but with McDonogh set to kickoff at 2 PM and Maryland kicking off at 3:30 PM, that potential visit is now in doubt. “My next one will be Maryland. I’m praying. I know they play Penn State. I play that day but if it’s late enough, I’ll be able to make it,” Exinor added.
In the slight chance Exinor does make it to College Park for the second half, it’ll be the latest visit for the four-star product as he’s become a comfortable face around College Park through his high school career. Exinor was planning to visit for the Indiana game and was also eyeing the Illinois game before the weather derailed his plans. Still, the Terps remain at the forefront in his recruitment with recruiting analyst Marcus Thomas staying in frequent contact.
“Coach Braswell is my area coach but coach Marcus Thomas, right around the summer when I visited, we’ve been talking a lot. We FaceTime, he’s got me on the phone with Locks a couple of times. He’s just a cool dude. We have just some good conversations. I like him.”
Exinor added that Maryland is one of five schools recruiting him the hardest.
“Maryland, Penn State, Michigan, Duke, Pitt,” he added.
Exinor has two visits set for now, beginning with Tennessee when they host Georgia the weekend of Nov. 11. The four-star will then head to Michigan the following week to watch the Wolverines take on Ohio State.
Duke hosted Exinor for the first time last month as the Blue Devils are among the surprise teams in 2023, while the strength of Duke’s academics has his mom’s attention. “My mom, she’s real academic so when she heard Duke invited me down for that game she wanted to go. We’ve been to Maryland probably the most, so we took a little drive down there. It wasn’t bad at all,” Exinor added. “The atmosphere wasn’t the best I’ve seen but the school is good, the team is good right now which caught me off guard. I have a relationship with a couple of the coaches. It’s cool.”
Jeff Exinor is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3, sitting as the 241st-best prospect in the country.
