Eleven Terps selected to East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list

With fall camp less than two weeks away, several Maryland veterans have found themselves on preseason watch lists with safety Beau Brade drawing continuous praise. This week, Maryland had eleven players selected to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 on Tuesday, tied for the third-most in the Big Ten. “The Shrine Bowl 1,000 serves as the first look at who may be at the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl,” said Eric Galko, Director of Football Operations and Player Personnel for the Shrine Bowl, via press release. “Our staff combed through all four levels of college football, evaluating thousands of Shrine Bowl-eligible players, to find the top players in the country. The players most likely to participate will be invited to the Dallas Cowboys Facility in Frisco, Texas on February 1, 2024 where players will be coached by NFL coaches, scouts and front office personnel ahead of the NFL Draft. Here’s a look at who was selected: SAF Beau Brade- Entering the season, Brade is high on NFL Draft boards and was ranked the second-best draft-eligible strong safety by Phil Steele. Brade started all 13 games last season, leading the Terps with 85 tackles. RG Corey Bullock- As a sophomore in 2022, Bullock was voted All-MEAC Second Team and led the Eagles with a team-high 14 pancake blocks. Bullock, a Gwynn Park (MD) alum, entered the portal in December and was briefly committed to Cincinnati before flipping to Maryland days later following his official visit. Bullock is expected to take over as Maryland's starting right guard. TE Corey Dyches- Dyches appeared in all 13 games last season for the Terps as well as starting four. Dyches received Honorable Mention All-Big Ten in 2022. Dyches had a career game last season versus Purdue collecting 106 yards as well as having two touchdowns. LT DJ Glaze- Glaze started all 13 games last season for the Terps. Glaze was the second highest graded pass blocking tackle in the Big Ten and seventh in the FBS with an 85.7 grade per PFF. Glaze was named to the 2022 Pro Football Focus Third Team All-Big Ten as well as receiving 2022 Honorable Mention All-Big Ten. DL Donnell Brown- Entering his first season as a Terp, Brown is a two-time FCS All-American, was the 2022 NEC Defensive Player of the Year, as well as being two-time All-NEC while playing at St. Francis. In 2022 alone, Brown totaled 48 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks to become the NEC Defensive Player of the Year. RT Gottlieb Ayedze- In 2022, Ayedze started all 11 games at Frostburg State. Ayedze helped pave the way for the second-best rushing attack in the MEC, while being named All-MEC First Team. Ayedze was also named AFCA 1st Team All-American, D2CCA Second Team All-Region and received Honorable Mention All-American. Ayedze transferred to Maryland in December and is expected to start at right tackle. CB Ja’Quan Sheppard- Entering his first year with the Terps, Sheppard earned first team all AAC last season, leading the Bearcats with 10 PBU's. Sheppard entered the transfer portal in December and committed to Maryland over UCF where he steps into a starting role. WR Jeshaun Jones- As a RS Senior, Jones appeared in 13 games with 11 starts. Jones led the Terps in receiving with 44 receptions for 557 yards. He also was a 2022 Academic All-Big Ten selection last season. Jones enters his sixth season in College Park CB Tarheeb Still- As as junior, Tarheeb appeared in 12 of 13 games while starting ten. He had a career game last season against Michigan State totaling nine tackles, six of them being solo. He enters the year as a day three prospect according to NFL scouts. QB Taulia Tagovailoa- Taulia earned second-team All-Big Ten last season while rewriting the Terps record books. Taulia broke Marylands career touchdowns record, Marylands total offense record, while raising to second all-time in career yards, touchdowns and completions. Tagovailoa also set the program record for 300-yard games with ten. WR Tyrese Chambers- Entering his first season as a Terp, Chambers leaves FIU as a household name. Chambers set FIU single-season records in receiving yards, 1074, and touchdown receptions with nine in 2021 while ranking second nationally with an average of 23.87 yards per reception. Chambers entered the transfer portal following the 2021 season before electing to return to FIU for one more season, only to reenter the portal and then transfer to Maryland in December.
