Details for Maryland football's Big Ten opener vs. UCLA announced

Ahead of the non-conference finale this weekend, details for Maryland football's Big Ten opener have been released by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Maryland will host UCLA for a 1:30 PM ET kickoff on the Big Ten Network, the Big Ten announced.

This will mark the fourth meeting between the two teams, including first in College Park as Big Ten opponents. UCLA topped Maryland, 20-17, in a heartbreaking loss in Los Angeles last season after the Bruins drove 68 yards in five plays against an injury-ridden Terps' defense to set up the game-winning kick. The two teams split a pair of meetings in the 1950s after combining to score 26 points across the two games.

The Bruins opened the 2026 season with convincing wins over Cal and San Diego State as they prepare to host Purdue this upcoming weekend for their Big Ten opener. This also marks year one for new head coach Bob Chesney, who was hired in Dec. 2025 after going 21-6 (12-4) over two seasons at James Madison, including an appearance in the College Football Playoffs in 2025. Chesney owns a 134-52 career record and has never posted a losing record.

Maryland has cruised through the first two weeks of the regular season by outscoring Hampton and UConn by a combined score of 100-14 as they prepare to host Virginia Tech this weekend, Sept. 19 for a 7:30 PM kickoff.
