Decision day has arrived for Evans (FL) four-star safety Brandon Jacob as Maryland will hope for good news on its top target. Jacob, a 6-foot-1.5, 171-pound safety is set to make his commitment on Thursday at 7 PM between Maryland, UCF, Ohio State, Miami (FL) and Texas A&M. https://twitter.com/Thereallkingbj_/status/1675930861810642944 The four-star safety kicked off the month of June with an official visit to the Knights before heading to College Station to give the Aggies their first look. Jacob and his family then made their way to Maryland the weekend of June 16 for what proved to be the third and final official visit. Jacob is no stranger to Maryland, having visited for the Rutgers game last fall then returning for a pair of unofficial visits, then returning again to campus for the spring game. Outside linebacker coach James Thomas has led the Terps’ pursuit as Maryland was the first school to offer and, given Thomas once attended Jacob’s high school, Maryland has been able to lean on the strong relationship. Wide receiver Jeshaun Jones was among the five-player panel hosting Jacob through the weekend as the Terps hope to add another pledge to its 2024 class. ”Just hanging out with the players. Just basically I’ve been up there for unofficials, get to see a couple things. On the official I got to just hang out the players, see how they are off the field and see what life is like other than football,” Jacob told IBG following his official visit. The four-star safety dazzled for Evans during his junior season at wide receiver and safety, totaling 69 tackles, ten pass breakups, five interceptions and a pair of fumbles and defensive touchdowns. Maryland has stocked its 2024 class over the last two month, now sitting at 15 commitments this cycle featuring six in-state pledges. Jacob is rated a four-star prospect and a 92 overall by On3. He’s rated the 11th-best safety in the country and 151st-best prospect in the country.
