Maryland stands at 18 commitments heading into July 4 as head coach Mike Locksley and the staff look for good news from a top target fresh off a trio of official visits.
Columbia (FL) three-star wide receiver Kyren Caldwell is set to announce his commitment today at 5 PM ET between a final three of Alabama, Maryland and Mississippi State.
Maryland was the first school to host the 6-foot-2 wide receiver on an official visit beginning June 4 before heading to Mississippi State then Alabama. While it marked the first visit to College Park, it came after months of knowing he's a priority target as assistants Latrell Scott and Derek Kief spearheaded the pursuit ever since offering back on Jan. 15 with a clear emphasis on the fit.
Senior wide receiver Kaleb Webb also served as the player host for Caldwell during his official visit while the Florida target also began building a relationship with quarterback Malik Washington on the official visit.
Maryland has worked to restock its wide receiver depth with already four wide receivers committed in Davion Vanderbilt, AJ Henderson, Alex Fontenot and Mason McClure. Maryland also remains a top contender for local four-star wide receiver Myles McAfee, who is also nearing a decision.
Before trimming down to a top three, Calwell previously announced a top seven with Maryland included alongside Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Georgia, Mississippi State and South Carolina. As a junior, Caldwell recorded 48 receptions for 701 yards and eight touchdowns.
