Contract details for Maryland co-DC Aazaar Abdul-Rahim released

Former Boston College assistant Aazaar Abdul-Rahim was announced as Maryland's new co-defensive coordinator, associate head coach for defense and cornerbacks coach back on Jan. 12 with his contract details now public. Abdul-Rahim will earn $600,000 annually on a contract set to run through Jan. 31, 2026. His includes a $400,000 annual base salary, per an open records request while Abdul-Rahim is also set to receive a $25,000 raise in supplemental income beginning in 2025. Abdul-Rahim, who has been making the local recruiting rounds for weeks with the Terps, also received an $18,000 stipend for moving expenses as head coach Mike Locksley welcomes back the former Friendship Collegiate head coach who got his first on-field position job with the program back in 2016. The constant feedback from Maryland's 2025 feedback has provided credence to what's been expected of Aazaar Abdul-Rahim as the ace local recruiter bolsters the staff's efforts to lock down the local talent. “He’s that guy. I want to be around that type of coach,” Smith told IBG. “We definitely connected off the jump. It’s just good to put a face to the name. We were cooling all day," North Caroline (MD) cornerback Zymear Smith said this week. "He’s the truth. He’s not going to bullshit you. He’s going to tell you right from wrong and the way he wants it done. That’s the type of coaches I want to be around, man.” "You know how you can automatically connect with some people? It’s just like that. He’s just a good guy," Spalding cornerback Jayden Shipps said of his new position recruiter. “I think it’d be good for me considering that he’s been on me heavy. It’ll be an opportunity for me to see whether that’s the school for me, what the defensive scheme is, how I fit in but that definitely interests me,” Gonzaga cornerback Devenchi Arnold added.
