Change of Plans for Top '22 Target

Archbishop Spalding (MD) three-star cornerback Mansoor Delane was slated to announce his commitment on Friday but tells Inside the Black and Gold he’s opted to push his decision back.

“Just wanted to take the time to step back. I didn’t want to rush anything so that’s why, didn’t want to do a second commitment so that’s why,” Delane added.

With no timeframe for a decision, Delane will now take in a pair of visits to College Park this week.

“I should be at Maryland [on Thursday] just to watch practice,” Delane told Inside the Black and Gold. The 6-foot-1, 178-pound prospect has been a top target for the Terps this cycle as co-defensive coordinator Brian Williams is leading the collective effort from the staff. Following Sunday’s visit to Virginia Tech, the Terps’ staff got back on the phone with the priority three-star.

“We had a lot of conversations this week, just talking to them more about football stuff and how they’re going to develop me. We’re just chopping it up again today.”

Delane is also planning to return to campus on Saturday for Maryland’s invite-only barbeque.

“That’s the plan.” The three-star does not have any additional plans to get back to see the Hokies.

Delane is rated a three-star prospect and an 86 overall by 247Sports, sitting as the 15th-best prospect in Maryland.
