Buzz Williams, Maryland basketball kicks off weekend with latest portal commit

Maryland men's basketball has its latest commitment in the transfer portal.

One day after visiting campus, former Queens forward Maban Jabriel has announced his transfer to Maryland to become the fourth portal commitment of the offseason. IBG first reported his visit on Friday morning.

Jabriel is a 6-foot-9, 205-pound rising junior - listed as a guard in Queen's roster. Yet he arrives in College Park with a chance to add versatility at the wing as head coach Buzz Williams and the staff round out the 2026-27 roster.

After playing in all 35 games as a freshman, Jabriel started in two games in 2025-26 where he averaged 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. He registered double figures scoring in 11 games, including a career-high 16 points at Furman. Jabriel also shot 46.5% from the field and 38.7% from three over his two seasons, though his efficiency as a sophomore was hard to iignore after shooting over 43% from three and 49% from the field.

The long portal addition joins Bishop Boswell, Tomislav Buljan and Robert Jennings as early portal commitments for Maryland while both Pharrel Payne and Andre Mills return in 2026-27.
